PUTTING YOU AT THE TOP OF YOUR “TO-DO”

PUTTING YOU AT THE TOP OF YOUR “TO-DO”

In this fast-paced world teeming with demands from jobs, family, community, religious duties, and a myriad of other obligations, it’s hard to find time to just BE with yourself. As the saying goes, “You can’t pour from an empty vessel”. However, we continue to do this day in and day out for years. We consistently give our best to others, leaving only fragments of mediocrity for ourselves.

As you embark and continue your wellness journey, it is imperative that you are proactive about prioritizing yourself and putting YOU at the top of your to-do list! Prioritizing yourself is not selfish. It is perhaps the best thing you can do for yourself and for those you love and care about.

Putting you at the top of your to-do requires intention and a bit of ingenuity. You must absolutely plan and prepare to prioritize you. Make a list of things you enjoy doing or would love to do and commit to doing one or more of those things daily.

Begin your day with you in mind. As soon as you wake up take five minutes to express gratitude, pray, meditate or simply just lay in the silence and stillness, or stretch. You can also take time in the shower to listen to music, podcast or video you enjoy, enjoy the soothing scents of a shower steamer. Enjoy some tea or coffee or smoothie. Take time during the day to enjoy a walk, or workout. At night, light a candle, enjoy some deep breathing, journaling, a bath bomb, Epsom salts or bubble bath, read a book.

The rewards for creating moments for peace, self-care and self-reflection are priceless. By giving the best to yourself, it allows you to truly give your best to others. Only now you are pouring from a full vessel and there is still a surplus left for you. You are happier that your needs are being met and this energy is reflected in the world around you. Loving yourself invites others to do the same.

Resolve today to put you at the top of your to-do. Not only will you change, but so will the world around you! Loving yourself in turn causes more love and abundance to be reflected in the world around you!
